There is a story about a soldier who finally came home after fighting in Vietnam. He called his parents from San Francisco. "Father and Mother, I'm going home soon but I ask your mother's permission to bring a friend home." "Sure," they replied, "we'll be glad to meet him." "There's something you need to know," the boy continued, "he was badly injured in battle, he stepped on a mine and lost an arm and a leg, he has nowhere else to go, and I want him to live with us." "Oh sad, boy, surely we can help him find a place to live." "No, Father and Mother, I want her to stay with us." "Son," said the father, "You do not know what you're asking for, a person with such a disability will be a heavy burden on us, and we're just a mediocre life, and we can not let something like this interfere with family life we think you enough to just go home and forget about that person, he'll find a way to earn a living for himself. " The boy then hangs up and his parents never again hear from their son. A few days later, they received a call from the San Francisco police. Their son died of a fall from a building, the news they received. The police believe the boy committed suicide. The grieving parents flew to San Francisco and were taken to the morgue to identify their child's body. They recognize it, but how sad they are, because their child has only one arm and one leg. Moral of such a story, reported by Moralstories: Parents in this story like most of us. We find it easy to love good-looking or fun people to show off to our neighbors and friends, but we do not like people who do not please us or make us feel uncomfortable. We prefer to stay away from people who are unhealthy, not beautiful or not handsome, or not as smart as we are. Fortunately, if anyone does not treat us like that. Someone who loves us with unconditional love that welcomes us into the family forever, regardless of how messy our circumstances are. Every night, before we fall asleep in the warmth of the night, insert a little prayer may God give us the strength to accept others as they are. Pray that God will help us to understand them - anyone - different from us. Aamiin.
