In the last few days, the Acehnese universe is overwhelmed with the phenomenon of the abortion of legislative candidates. Generally they fall due to not passing the Qur'an reading test.

The majority of people are very sorry that the number of legislative candidates did not pass the Qur'an reading test. Not without reason the Acehnese were disappointed. The status of Aceh as the only region that applies Islamic law in a perfect is a very unfortunate reason.

Test of reading ability of the Qur'an is one of the conditions that must be passed by the legislative candidates in Aceh. This rule is stated in Aceh Qanun number 3 of 2008 concerning Local Political Parties for Election Participants Members of the Aceh House of Representatives and the City/Regency People's Representative Council.

More details are found in Chapter IV concerning the Requirements and mechanisms for Nominating members of DPRA and DPRK. In this chapter there are two points that govern the reading ability of the Koran. In point one letter c, mentioned legislative candidates should be able to run the Islamic Sharia in kaffah and can read the Qur'an for the Muslims.

Whereas the second point regarding the administrative completeness of the legislative candidates of DPRA/DPRK is explained, to be a legislative candidate must be proven by a statement of the ability to run Islamic Shari'a for Muslims, and a certificate to read the Koran issued by the Independent Election Commission (IEC). Based on the author's interview with one of the Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) in Aceh, there were 3 (three) aspects assessed in the Koran reading ability test. These three aspects are: (1) tajwid; (2) makhraj letters; and (3) adab. These three aspects are then accumulated to obtain the value of the reconciliation capability. At a minimum, a legislative candidates must obtain a number 50 to pass the Qur'anic reading ability test.

In reality, there are many legislative candidates who do not pass the Qur'an. For the Aceh Provincial Representative Council (APRC) bacaleg, as many as 39 people did not pass the Qur'anic reading ability test. While the Regency/City level for the DPRK category varies the number that does not pass the Qur'anic reading ability test. If totaled it turns out that hundreds of legislative candidates did not pass the Qur'anic reading ability test.

This phenomenon is a warm conversation among the people of Aceh. Even more heartbreaking are those who already have Hajj titles but do not pass the Qur'anic reading ability test. There are even a number of incumbent candidates who did not pass the Qur'anic reading ability test. Even though they had passed in the previous period. This phenomenon is very unfortunate by the majority of the people of Aceh.

For the people of Aceh, the ability to read the Qur'an has become a necessity. Isn't Aceh applying Islamic Shari'a in full? Moreover, Aceh was nicknamed the Veranda of Mecca and a city of one thousand Islamic boarding schools. Of course this phenomenon becomes a disgrace that should be anticipated together. Didn't all legislative candidates know this requirement. They should learn to study first before registering as a candidate.

If anyone can not read the Qur'an, why force yourself to register as a candidate? Doesn't this open your own disgrace? Hopefully the future no longer legislative candidates who did not pass the test of reading ability of the Qur'an.
