What is a mushroom?

Mushrooms are plants that do not have chlorophyll so can not do the process of photosynthesis to produce their own food. According to mycologist fungus is a fungus that has a fruit body shape like an umbrella. Its reproduction structure is in the form of gills located on the lower surface of the umbrella or hood.
Mushrooms live by taking food substances, such as cellulose, glucose, lignin, proteins and starch compounds from other substances. With the help of enzymes produced by hyphae, the ingredients are broken down into compounds that can be absorbed for growth. Therefore, the fungus is classified as a heterotrophic plant, a plant whose life depends on other organisms.
Around the world there are thousands of species of mushrooms scattered from the region of subtropics to the tropics. Of these thousands of species only hundreds can be identified. Mushrooms there are profitable and disadvantageous in this life. Including a favorable type of mushroom is the consumption fungus, which is a type of edible fungus without any toxic effects. The types include oyster mushrooms, straw, ears, shiitake, champignon and so forth. All edible (edible) fungi are saprophytes, that is, the life of dead organic compounds.
Currently the consumption fungus has been cultivated commercially to meet the increasingly growing needs of the day.
