About Quails.

Hi esteemian all.
I took a photo of this quail behind a refueling while traveling a few days ago. It's good we know more about this quail.
Quails are poultry that are short, small, fat and round with strong, short legs. His body is filled with brown fur with gray and black spots. Initially quail lived wild and moved in the forest. His voice was quite loud and rather rhythmic. Because of this, these poultry were formerly kept as song birds. These animals were first bred in America around 1870. Furthermore, quail began to develop throughout the world as livestock. In Indonesia, commercial quail farms began in 1979 by importing quail seeds from abroad.
Quails cannot fly for long. however, it can run fast and fly at close range when approached. This poultry grows ideal in areas with temperatures of 24-30o C with 85% humidity. Meanwhile, quail egg production can reach 250-300 grains / head / year.
Quail starts laying at the age of 42 days and will produce fully at the age of 50 days. With good care female quails will lay 200 eggs in the first year of production and the spawning period for 9-12 months with a life span of 2-2.5 years (Anggorodi, 1995). In addition, if quails that have reached a weight of 90-100 grams will immediately start laying eggs at the age of 35-42 days. The ability to produce from the beginning of production will continue to increase dramatically to reach the peak of production (top production 98.5) at the age of 4-5 months and will gradually decrease to 70% at the age of 9 months.

The content in quail eggs
Quail protein and egg fat content is better than other poultry eggs. High protein content, but low fat content. Besides that the taste is also delicious and can be served in sharing shapes and flavors. Quail eggs are very good for the cholesterol diet because it can reduce the occurrence of accumulation of fat, especially in the heart, while the protein needs remain sufficient.

Types of quails
There are several types of quail namely moor quail (Turnix susciatori), yellow quail (Turnix silvatica), black back quail (Turnix maculosa), quail crown (Rollulus roulroul), quail javan gong (Arborophila javanica), ordinary gong (Arborophila orientalis), blue breasted quail (Coturnixchinensis), and Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica).among these quails, Coturnix coturnix japonic is a type of quail that is commonly bred in Indonesia for its eggs and meat. The rest, the type of quail still lives wild in nature.
This is all I can share today, hopefully useful.
Thank you for all the esteemian and curators on this platform.
