millipede Diplopoda class, previously also called Chilognatha is an arthropod that has two pairs of legs per segment except the first segment behind the head, and a little after that which has only one leg. The millipede is an Order of the invertebrate member belonging to the phylum of Arthropoda, Myriapoda class.

The animal body is cylindrical, the number of segments is about 25-100, each segment has only a pair of legs and each abdomen has five pairs of legs and two pairs of spiracles. These animals breed by laying eggs. usually these creatures are many we find in groups when the rainy season and when the flood rises.

Millipedes are generally harmless to humans, although some may be household pests or gardens, especially in greenhouses where they can cause severe damage to the seeds that appear. Most of the thousand legs defend themselves with various chemicals that are removed from the pores along the body. Reproduction in most species is done by modified male legs called gonopods, which transfer sperm packets to females.

First appeared in the Silur period, the thousandth foot is the oldest known land animal. Some members of prehistoric groups grew more than 2 m (6 ft 7 inches); The largest modern species reaches a maximum length of 27 to 38 cm (11 to 15 inches). The longest known species is the African giant millipede (Archispirostreptus gigas).

Among myriapods, the millipede is traditionally considered to be closest to its association with tiny pauropods, although some molecular research challenges this relationship. The millipede can be distinguished from the slightly different but slightly different (slightly different) Chimopoda class, which moves fast, is carnivorous, and has only one pair of legs in each body segment. Scientific studies of the millipede are known as diplopodology, and a scientist who studies them is called a diplopodologist.
