I brought office supplies, pens, and scissors with me to SE Asia and I should not have done that. Everywhere I go in this region, I see cheap and lovely supplies I still don't need.
This first shot of pens and everything else here today is at the Family Mart near me. I am on at least my 4th post from this little store and we are not done yet!
Today I am showing some of the non-food items in this 24 hour convenience store while bemoaning my cell phone pics and general lack of talent!
More pens and supplies
I wish I would have brought more supplies and implements for my teeth. These are not really high quality and expensive in the scheme of things.
Over the counter medicine is another area of lack. I can never find aspirin or ibuprofen, and the tylenol (panadol) comes in packs of ten. Or I can get traditional remedies, but I am not too adventurous in that way yet.
Nothing for sinuses...
But lots of makeup and masks.
Facial masks from snails.
Or only the eye mask.
Women of SE Asia love these masks and will wear them in semi-public places. It's a fabric soaked in whatever goop it is. It's usually white with the eyes and mouth cut out so you look like you are in a horror movie when you wear them.
I have gotten used to seeing these on women in common areas of hostels and the various condos I have lived. The women do not care if men are in the room or not. They are cleaning their pores and that is the end of that!
I'm just keeping my pores blocked, and the snails off my face.

I'm stealing my son @bxlphabet's flower today for you, Denise. This crazy thing was at the Denver Botanical Gardens when he visited and I just happened to see it today. Orange and purple on the same flower buds!

Not to be too nosy but can you tell me how one displays their General lack of talent? That had me rolling in the aisles. They do have an extensive supply of pens, don't they and yes! For all the other items that they have they sure are lacking in the teeth Department! Not only that, but everything is so tiny! That really blows my mind that you can buy something for pennies and basic necessities are ridiculously overpriced!
You are not the first to not be able to find ibuprofen. How odd, yes? You don't want to try the traditional remedy yet? I know you will eventually. :) You are spirited like that! The makeup and masks literally bowl me over!! Seriously. No over the counters, but, they will clean your pores until the cows come home, right?
I had no idea that the masks were that popular! in SE Asia. I am not kidding! Cleaning my pores is an important part of a skincare routine, but, usually only when I have time. Which is hardly ever. But, I could just see it now, cleaning my pores while I am out in the garden, weeding! OMG... My neighbors would be hanging out their windows. And that is the ones who I am close with! LOL The others would probably post it on Facebook. LOL
Ewww. Snails on my face. OK... Never again. They can stay clogged.
The flowers are amazingly beautiful and so very unique! I love them in black and white too! Thank your son for me!! And a big thank you to you, @fitinfun for taking the time and effort to put a post together for the challenge!! Always appreciative!

I live in Asia, too. They're definitely lacking in the deodorant department and definitely the over-the-counter medicines. I agree. America and Canada have one of the best over the counter medicines there are in the world. But when it come to stationery, Asia's got it all~! So cute characters and stuff. I love it.

I'm in Malaysia now and this store is here near me. I also lived in Thailand and have visited all the surrounding countries. I so agree with everything you say. The stationary is amazing in all countries and even in tiny little stores. Then the biggest Target-like store you have ever seen has nothing for me in the medicine or beauty supplies. The pharmacies will sell you any drug for cheap, but you are only getting 5-10 of them. So different.
Glad to meet you, @gungho! Where are you? I am in Wangsa Maju KL, which is a local neighborhood and I absolutely love it. I go to Singapore for my 90 day out and in at the end of the month, and hope for a very good result :)
