Reflections on STEEMFest for the Last Blocktrades Contest

My experience at STEEMFest in Bangkok was a whirlwind. From to travel to Thailand, to the events, to my time in Bangkok, it never seemed to stop. I would not trade it for the world, and only wish I had been better rested and more able to mingle.

I am so glad for those STEEMers I was able to see again, and those I newly met. Being around the people who care enough to make the trip was a special pleasure for me.

The learning I did was astonishing. I found out about projects I never heard of, and got new insight to some I already did know about. This information is invaluable to me and would not have happened in any other way. I have long lists of tasks from STEEMFest and ideas for posts. It’s now just a matter of getting to them.

My vision for 2020 includes my attendance at the next STEEMFest no matter where in the world it may be. I am so impressed with many of the projects people are working on and anticipate them succeeding by the time of the next Fest. I plan to be a part of many of those projects by posting to them and promoting them.

I am very bullish on STEEM and now I have STEEMFest gives me renewed faith. There is nothing like hanging out with a bunch of true believers to get motivation going again.

This is my entry for the last @blocktrades contest from @anomadsoul and I am in under the wire; entering on the last day. I’ve been really sick since returning, and I was hoping to feel better, but instead I am not improving. Nothing to do but to post anyway :)

Here are my answers to some of the questions asked in the contest entry post:

What are the positive aspects of the SF?

  • I got a huge amount of information on topics I did not know about and also those I was only somewhat aware of.
  • Certain misconceptions I had are now cleared up.
  • I know a lot of ideas to pass on with my minnow tips to help others succeed.
  • I met many STEEMers in person that I was already connected with and many that I was not.
  • I have many more followers and upvoters now.
  • I got to see a lot of Bangkok I missed while living there.

What did you like?

  • the food
  • the friendship
  • the conversation
  • the events
  • the brain dump
  • the feeling of camaraderie

What didn't you like?

  • feeling too sick, tired, and weak to be at my best
  • the many, many expensive taxi rides to the wrong place.
  • too short!

Would you wish things would've been different?

  • more communal transport to places off the beaten track. What was offered was wonderful and much appreciated.

What would you have changed?

I would change the check in and drinks to Tuesday. Then Wednesday would be a half day afternoon session and then dinner. Most people are traveling very far to get to the event, and this extra day would help.

All in all, I have no complaints, and only gratitude for my chance to attend STEEMFest this year. I will see you next year for sure.

I couldn't have said it better myself, and I agree absolutely with everything you said. Personally, I didn't mind the travel we had to do on our own, but I guess that's personal. It's funny, because I have spent so much time in Bangkok years ago, and yet it was challenging at times. I'd say if I'd spend another few weeks there, this would be back to my old ways. I used to fly it around the city hehe.
This Steemfest was one of many emotions for me. From literally shedding tears when we arrived in Bangkok, (and not when we left, thank goodness, I'd done enough crying last year lol) to realizing that I can literally do anything because I made it there.

I agree with the start on Tuesday, that would help a lot and we'd get to talk to more people. But it would be harder in the mornings hehe.

It was a pleasure to finally meet you in person, and to me you're a hero for making it down there. I hope you feel better soon, not fun being sick after such an event. Much love to you <3 (and I don't believe I even told you about my project lol).

Haha! I could not move out of that nice theater for any of the separate meetings, @misslasvegas. I did not yet realize how sick I was, but I knew I just needed to stay put.

I do actually love all the travel I do, and just wish I was feeling better now. I'm not sure what has brought this on, but I look pregnant now. I even have stretch marks! I did not get them when pregnant with my son, so this is a weird surprise.

I was so glad to meet you too, and look forward to net year when we do it again. I WILL be much better prepared and happy to be wherever we end up :)

I will be in Bangkok again for my visa trip and will shed the tears for you. It happens every time I pass the immigration checkpoint as I am always so happy to step foot in that place again.
