My Thursday Favorites #2.07 Contest Entry – My Favorite Cookie

When I first saw the “Thursday Favorite” item for the week, I did not think I had a favorite cookie. I don’t think I ever was a big cookie eater, and after losing “Half My Size” 8 years ago, I do not know if I have eaten many since then. If I have, none of those cookies has been memorable.

I definitely had no photos of cookies, so I went to canva to create a poster. When searching for cookie illustrations, a fortune cookie graphic was a top choice.

So that’s it! My favorite cookie is the fortune cookie.

I can remember these from my youth when I went out with my family for Chinese food. The fortune cookies would arrive at the end of the meal, and you would hope for a positive and not too cryptic fortune to be told.

Later, on a trip to San Francisco, I went to a factory where fortune cookies were being made. Factory might be too big of a word.

There were two machines in a building in an alley. They were round and turning, with batter coming out on one side, and ladies picking cookies off to form them and add fortunes as they came around cooked to the other side.

A crowd was gathered taking photos and buying bags of fresh fortune cookies. The group I was with bought a bag of cookies and they were great. I never had a fresh fortune cookie before or since, and it was much better than I was used to.

I don’t remember the fortune, or any of them, but they all must have been good. I feel like I have led a fortunate life and will continue on this way.
