Today has been another hard day. I have a bad sinus headache and no appropriate medicine for it. I have been sleeping on and off and trying to keep going.
I transferred money to cover the trip I need to take to Bangkok starting Sunday and it was more than I expected thanks to the generosity of some steeming friends. I am so grateful to them, but it seems like all the help in the world will not be enough.
I looked at post payouts recently, and where I used to be getting $3-$4 a post, I am now getting $1-$2. This is not enough to sustain my cheap lifestyle at all. I do not know how I can spend less than I do now.
I was cooking here in this condo, but there are some people here I call the ”Trash Boys.” They leave their food waste in the kitchen sink for days on end and this calls bugs and lizards and smells awful.
At the moment, the sink has been full of garbage since Tuesday at least. Now it is Friday and this outrageous situation continues.
So I stopped cooking in there a few months ago. This means I need to go out and get food each day. I think it is more expensive, but really not by much in SE Asia. I'm eating for $1-$2 per day.
The bi-weekly roadtosteemfest contest has come out today. They are asking us to talk about our budgeting. Ha! I have lots of costs to get to the Fest and no money to get there with. I always say God will provide, and He needs to come through big time right now.
My photo for this post is food from when I lived in California. This haul is big on nuts and seeds and dried fruit. I was making trail mix at that time.
I thought I was going through hard times then, and I was, but times are harder now. I sure could not afford at that food, even if it was available in Malaysia.

If it comes to the budget, each year I need to find a way to cover the bills too.
Home, gas/electricity bill, school fees, clothes children and food comes first.
No trips, celebration days except Dec 5th which will be a no-waste celebration, etc.
Basics first.
I understand why you don't cook in such a kitchen. Still there are meals you might make in your room? Perhaps there is a cleaner place to rent for less? Option closer to the border perhaps because of your visa trips?
Also if you can not afford to go to the steemfest do not go.
You have a clear picture on what you earn here (so have I which is 0 in all these months of investing) and you are not able to live from it.
You have to invest your time in something else too.
Your books, stories/freewrites or a book about your journey on steem(it) for example.
Now Steemians provide you in your needs. That is a big risk you take and not something to count on. Cannot your son help you out?
I wonder how you see your life in 5 or 10 years. Will your life be easier if you get your pension?
Those many hours you invest behind a computer... it all would cause me stress. 💕
