Malaria is a real clue here, that can only propagate in a high blood sugar environment - as the red blood cells do not have the ablity to metabolise their own energy.

Very cool, think I will write about that soon.

By removing carbohydrates from our system - either by fasting or using fat for fuel - we get the same effect - ie low blood sugar.
