Niantic has announced the star Pokémon of the next community day event in May. This event almost got by me as it is not thebmpst exciting feature these days and often goes by quickly within everything else that is going on in the game! Torchic, which is the Fire type from Generation Three will be the featured Pokémon and spawn more often during the event Sunday May 19, 2019. Niantic continues to follow the typical trend of alternating rare Pokémon with the starters of each generation as Bagon was the star last month.
As usual the community day event will last for three hours and will be on a Sunday this time around. The reward during the event will be a 3x improvement for Stardust for catches. Surprisingly, no other rewards have been announced except for the typical three hour lure duration. This is strange as a Pokemon like Torchic which are starters have not had the demand that the rare ones have to go out and play.
As usual, you will have a chance to encounter the shiny form of the Pokémon Torchic in increased probabilities during the event. Also, the special move that will be gained from evolving Combusken to Blaziken up to an hour after the event will be the fire type move of Blast Burn. It will be interesting to see how much interest this gets from the comunity this month. Good luck and catch ‘em all!
