A TASTE OF MARANG

I'm so happy to see Marang fruit on the streets when we were traveling from Davao to Tacloban. This is my favorite fruit next to durian. Of course, durian is in the top list! And the best thing was, marang was only P40 per kilo!!! Can you believe that?

Marang is an exotic fruit native to the Philippines. It is related to jackfruit, and breadfruit. Marang has a strong scent, but not as strong as durian. But like durian, it has a sweet and creamy taste. Yet their taste is completely different from each other.

When we were in Davao, the price of durian is unbelievable high because it is not in season, P150 per kilo. Imagine? But we still bought a few kilos anyway.

So when we saw those marang just sitting there on the road side, we stopped to check on it. And you know what happened next. We bought everything they sell!

And so the time came to devour marang! In one sitting, we ate three pieces! I can finish a fruit all by myself actually! Hahaha! 😂

Our timing was perfectly right. The fruit was not over ripe. It was juicy and sweet!

I learned that when durian is sooooo expensive, marang is not a bad choice at all. In fact, for those that cannot take the stinky smell of durian, I highly recommend trying marang fruit instead.

This is all for now.
