Back to the Future is an American science fiction film directed by Robert Zemeckis, released in 1985.
The plot tells the story of a teenage boy, Marty McFly, riding a time machine made by Dr. Emmett Brown from a DeLorean DMC-12 model car. Starting from the year 1985 and propelled in 1955, Marty, helped by the "Doc" of 1955, must solve the temporal paradoxes caused by his interventions in the past and find the way to make the machine work to return to his time of origin .
The commercial success of the film gave rise to two sequels, Return to the Future 2 (1989) and Return to the Future 3 (1990), thus forming a trilogy, and the development of a franchise on various media.
