50 Hectares of forest land in Aceh are burned

Approximately 50 hectares of forests and land are located in highland areas which are export quality coffee producers in the mountainous region of Aceh Tengah Regency, Aceh Province burned down.

Chief Implementer of the Aceh Disaster Management Agency Teuku Ahmad Dadek in Banda Aceh said on Sunday that the burning land is right in the southern part of Lake Laut Tawar in Takengon.

"The fire has been extinguished yesterday (Saturday, 21/7) night, at around 22:00 pm Currently, all personnel damkar (firefighter) has returned to the post," explained Teuku Ahmad Dadek quoted from Antara, Sunday (22/7 ).

He said that tens of hectares in the burning mountains of Central Aceh occurred in two villages, namely Jongok Meluem and Mendale, both in Kebayakan Subdistrict.

The team from related agencies including the local Disaster Management Agency officials, directly mengerahka one unit damkar to conduct a fire extinguisher at the scene.

"The easy access to the location, so that our team can extinguish the point of fire, although no casualties, but the cause of fire has been handled by the authorities," said Dadek.

The local Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) earlier this week said satellite detected five hotspots appeared in Aceh.

"There are five hotspots, three of which are in North Aceh, and two in Central Aceh," said Head of Data and Information Division BMKG Meteorology Station Blang Bintang, Zakaria Ahmad.

Zakaria Ahmad explains that the three hot spots in North Aceh are concentrated in one sub-district, namely Sawang with each level having confidence over forest and land fires 68, 50, and 47 percent.

Then the two hot spots in Central Aceh are also concentrated in one sub-district, namely Bintang, each having a confidence level of 90, and 57 percent.

"There is a hot spot in Kecamatan Bintang, we state as a hotspot because it has a confidence level of more than 81 percent," Zakaria stressed.
