Poverty and inequality - the gap between the rich and the poor has been a growing problem in Philippines, and most likely will never stop being one. Poverty limits people from proper health care, insurance, jobs, and especially education.
I am fortunate engouh to have 3 meals a day, to have roof to stay and to able to have some things i want. I mean everyone being able to have this things is fortunate. However it saddens me to see how poverty consumes many. They starve, get sick thus bare the suffer. But at the most, it breaks my heart to see that the children will grow up seeing the way of life diferently ( Pain,Hunger,Distrust,Hatred) and live thier lives only to survive. Children no longer go to school not able to gain education in order to work to be able to survive. And it saddens me that the only thing I can do for now is share some foods and little bit of money.

Ok. This will sounds crazy but! Dont mind the people who are suffering.
The biggest problem in the philippines that people cant change. Until they dont change they will suffer.
I mean nobody dont force them to make 3-7 children.
Many times i experienced that they just wait for a help but if example you offer them a oportunity they dont like if you dont pay in advance.
For sure not all of them is like that but mostly.
Another expwrience when they pick up a loan just to celebrate and feed all the realtives. Than they again suffering because to pay it back and lets dont talk about that mostly the childrens even dont get a gift on they birthdays instead of that even the far relatives going there to eat.

Focus on yourself so you can be a good example for others and maybe one day there will be a change. 😉

I suggest you read about the poverty trap. Based on the nutrition trap and many others

I spent many years between poor people in ph. Sometimes even i experienced to eat once a day.
When i first arrived i spent 7k dollar just to help on those who was in need. This is a long story but even it felt good to help them later many of THOSE people try to make my life harder.
I was teaching also students in my free time and trust me in ph there is just one way out from that situation.

  1. Forget about the "traditions"
  2. Have a goal and work hard to reach it
  3. Dont listen and dont trust nobody in your place
  4. If you are sucessfull than show them a good example but dont give money never.

In the past 3 years me and my family we was suffering because we spent all our savings to help to my wife's family.

We will go back after few years and for sure i will try to do my best to help the people in that area but the lesson was learned. Dont give never money to them.

There is a lot of workplace. They dont pay much but at least there is a work and they can earn. But mostly they dont want to work.

My favourite story when i went to some homeless people and i offer them a job on our rice farm. They was even shouting with me in they own dialect😂😂😂
My wife and my baby is filipino and i like that place. But i hate that the people are playing that they are victims.
I suggest them to dont sell they votes for 50-200peso when there are elections and maybe they gov. will make a change if they cant.

So i suggest you to go there, experience the life there and than you will see what i am talking about.

By the way i was living in many parts of that country and everywhere is the same so i know what i am talking about.😉

Thx for sharing your experience @gabbynhice

Poor people do think very differently. They surely do not see "opportunities" and they mostly focus on "here and now".

Piotr

Yep true. But even they are poor doesnt mean they cant be sucessfull. I know the gov. has also his part why the people have to live like this BUT example i know or lets say i saw a situation when a poor became very rich just because he dont want to accept the life what he had and he was working hard plus he was super creative.
But that situation in PH is a trap and so hard to get out from it.
Just check how much money went there from abroad.
Even my country sending there support on regular basis. But believe it or not PH is not that much poor country. Just the people.
But even the western countries cant feed all of them. They have to make a oportunity for themself first.
Sorry this is a long topic and sensitive because most of the people dont see the solution just faceing the problem😔

Dear @gabbynhice

Thank you for your kind comment.

Would you perhaps consider using "enter" from time to time? To separate blocks of texts with extra space? It would make it much easier to read :)

Yours
Piotr

Yes, the poverty trap also covers traditions. Where there is a culture trap and such just like you suggest. They mostly trap themselves. I wasn't attacking you in any sense i was just saying they have a name for it with many many backed scientific research on the topic.

Not everything needs to be hostile.

Sorry than i misunderstand you mate 😊
My view sometimes can sounds crazy for others but i have been travelled around the world and i saw many places, learned many cultures.
Unlike other "bloggers" they just write without experience i really know what i am talking about.
Yeah not everyone is like what i told. I met few people who was really poor but they was working hard every day what ever oportunity they had.
And there is also what i mentioned before that they are not responsible. Why they have to make that much children if they cant take care even themselfs? Than they are crying that they are poor and they need help.
Also sad but truth that as a foreigner you dont have a chance to teach them because they dont like to listen. Filipinos they listen more to a sucessfull filipinos and thats why they should be a good example for them.
So maybe in the future there will be a change.

No prob.
And i totally agree. It has been shown that 1. Most poor countries have a very high fertility rate. 2. There is no significant evidence that financial aid helps, in some places they just become reliant, hence the institutional trap dur to corruption.

There are 3 steps to a problem:
The first step is realizing there is a problem
The second is knowing what the problem is
The third and final is fixing the problem.

Most poor countries dont go past the first one.

Its all a mindset that needs to be changed

Greetings @gabbynhice and @rehuelwolf

Excellent brainstorming that they have developed so far

This demonstrated, poverty is a mental condition, which is strengthened by customs and beliefs.

The best way out of poverty is through study and work, following stereotypes of success, and leaving behind all the burden of conformism and misery that poverty often brings.

And I also suggest you should be visiting our country anytime soon?

Looks like you are back Sir @gabbynhice! Well done from that awesome feedback.

He he sorry i just saw you find somebody who is a good blogger and i just want to upvote her. Than i saw this post and i want to share my thoughts.
Because like you @chuuuckie i respect you because you make something to earn as much as possible and you are i think a very good example for other filipinos.
Hope this girl will also follow your footprints because i saw she is also talented😉

I agree with your statement above. They need more discipline to make more children, one is enough if you are trying to live your life difficult, another thing is that they should not engage with loans lol. This is also why I dont do utangs lololol

What a powerful picture. Well done you for sharing it. Have a chat with @aalagenesis . She runs an art workshop for homeless kids in Manila.
Never stop caring :-)

Thank you for referring me @nathen007

It is indeed very powerful and saddening picture @nathen007 :(

Indeed, a powerful picture. This is one of the truths the government really needs to focus on. Not just by giving them food or money but by providing them affordable or free education and basic human rights.
