Local oranges from Banyuwangi regency of East Java flooded the relocation place of Pasar Johar Semarang in the last two months.
"The availability of the fruit depends on the harvest season, local fruit is now a lot of oranges," said one fruit trader Sumanto, in relocation Pasar Johar, Semarang, Wednesday (20/10/2016).
Sumanto said the price of citrus fruit from Banyuwangi currently ranges between Rp 8,000-10.000 / kilogram. The price varies depending on the size difference.
He added that now the number of local citrus in the local market more than imported oranges due to reduced supply usually comes from China.
"The orange import of Sunkist from China is not yet in season, we expect it may be around November," Sumanto said.
In addition to oranges, Sumanto also sells other local fruits, such as apples from Malang, East Java.
"For local apple prices also vary by size ranging from Rp 10,000-15.000 / kilogram," he said.
In Pasar Johar, there are currently two types of imported apples that rival the number of local apple sales.
"Buyers prefer the fuji apple from China or red apples from the United States because of its sweet taste," Sumanto said.
