Futbola Gent'te başlamasına karşın, racing genk'te profesyonel oldu. 2010-2011 doneminde racing genk'te önemli başarılara imzasını attı. Daha sonra avrupada birçok takımların takipçisi olan Kevin De Bruyne tercihini İngiltere'nin dev kulübü Mancehester City'den yana kullandı.
