WASHINGTON - The director of the Pentagon's Advanced Defense Research Advanced Agency (DARPA), Steven Walker, said it wanted to co-develop a hypersonic missile, as did Russia. But according to him, the United States military budget (US) is not sufficient for the Pentagon to do that.

Walker's statement came when he was in a press conference in Washington. During the press conference some reporters asked whether the United States spent enough money to develop hypersonic weapons, Walker said not enough.

"Unfortunately I will say no," Walker told a news conference, as reported by Russia Today on Saturday (3/3).

"The money allocated in this budget is very good, but they really focus on adding more trials and getting some of our offensive capabilities further into operational prototypes. We need more money allocated to infrastructure in developing hypersonic weapons," he continued.

Earlier, Pentagon spokesman Dana White was not surprised and undaunted by the threat posed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin stated that Russia is developing a missile that can not be prevented by any air defense system and able to reach any part of the world.

He went on to say, the only way to protect the United States from the world's threats is to develop and strengthen its nuclear capabilities.

"We need to ensure that our nuclear reserves remain a reliable nuclear deterrent. That is the key, We are ready to defend this nation no matter what," he continued.
