Former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Jimly Asshiddiqie supports the lawsuit against the presidential threshold (PT) 20 percent. According to him, the lawsuit argument is based on differences in the situation of presidential elections with the previous period.

"In 2014 there will be no petahana, different from 2019. So the Constitutional Court can consider the new dynamics, there are difficulties encountered, we can not direct quickly to the two coalitions, so in my opinion this (PT zero percent) is good for the long term," said Jimly in a discussion at Univetas Indonesia, Salemba, Central Jakarta, Thursday (12/07/2018).

Some time ago, a number of people filed a material test law related to the presidential threshold. They asked the Constitutional Court to set a zero-percent presidential threshold.

If the lawsuit is granted, according to Jimly, it does not necessarily make the petahana worry. Calculations, petahana can still win in one round.

"So the candidate for the petahana (PT 0 percent) is better for 2019, more cepet he won, 1 round only, with the candidate can be 5 pairs, so want 20 or 0 percent is the same," explained Jimly.

He hoped the Court could consider the decision of the lawsuit Presidential threshold of 20 percent with mature. "For the Constitutional Court, this time he (can) make history, he changed the verdict that has been decided, and this will be a landmark decision," Jimly stated.

For information, similar claims had previously submitted some parties, such as Party Idaman, Perindo, and PSI. The Court rejected the lawsuit.
