Protected landscape area Pálava

in esteem •  6 years ago

The Protected Landscape Area of Pálava as a large-scale protected area is established on 19 March 1976 by a Decree of the Ministry of Culture of the Czechoslovak Republic. Its main task is to protect the cultural agricultural landscape, in the long run to preserve the species diversity of plants and animals and of a typical landscape character.

This area can be defined by the area situated south of Novomlýnské reservoirs and extending to the Austrian border. In the west it is largely bordered by the R52 national highway from Brno to Vienna and in the east it touches the Lednice-Valtice area. It occupies a total area of 83.32 km2. There are 14 small-area, specially protected areas, including 4 National Nature Reserves (NPR), 1 National Natural Monument (NPP), 4 Nature Reserves (PR) and 4 Natural Monuments (PPs). On the western side, from the north to the south stretches the second-mountain limestone ridge of Pavlov Hills with the highest point 554.4 meters above sea level (the peak of Děvín), the eastern part is characterized by the wavy hill of Milovice Forest.

The Pavlovské vrchy are located in the northwest ridge of the Pannonian Lowland, in the warmest and almost drier area of the Czech Republic. The country still preserves the ancient secrets of the mammoth hunters, the Celts and the forgotten destinies of the Roman legionary X. who, according to the legend, began cultivating grapevines.
Pálava was declared a protected landscape area in 1976 and ten years later UNESCO biosphere reserve . The most important starting points for tourism are Mikulov and Pavlov . The area with many unique plant species also has an excellent location for grape growing. The fertile area around the Pálava Hills hides much more than you can see from the saddle of the bicycle when traveling through vast vineyards.

The fact that the "sun-burning country" loved pralids already, is evidenced by the remains of the fireplaces, the mammoth bones warehouse and, above all, the world-famous Věstonice Venus . Tourists in Pálava admire also colorful flowers, such as the irises on Děvín or the Cat Rock, a big sandstone, which we will not find here anywhere else, and then the sage Ethiopian or the steppe oat which grows near Mikulov since the end of the last ice age.

You can visit the ruins of the Orphaned Castle and Dívčí hrady . Different types of rocky dry lawns, leafy communities, drought-like shrubs and thermophilous oak forests on the slopes of Děvín are referred to as karst lesostep . On the western bank of the Nesytu pond near Sedlec still survive the remnants of salamilous vegetation, which was in the past on the salted pastures of South Moravia almost common. In the area, the ruins of three medieval castles and educational trail are frequented .

Until 2003 there was a Pálava Biosphere Reserve , which was identical to the Pálava Protected Landscape Area. Since 2003, Pálava has become an important part of the newly created biosphere reserve Dolní Morava . Part of the Pálava Protected Landscape Area is also part of the Lower Podyjí Wetlands , proclaimed in 1993 and protected by the Ramsar Convention.

In the Protected Landscape Area of Pálava, non-native invasive species of trees will be cut down. In the next 5 years, they want to get rid of the report all over the country. Regular felling to a lesser extent is not so effective by area managers. Pajasan or maple must disappear from Pálava and its surroundings, says Pavel Dedek from the Administration of the Protected Landscape Area of Pálava.

First, it is to expel the non-native and invasive species from reservations. Then it is replacing the bright forests, diluting the existing stands in Pálava and the surrounding area. The third goal is to remove the bushes and restore the steppe areas for, in order for the steppe vegetation to be grasped again.
