Hello, my dearest friends! Traditions of pottery originated in Yaroslavl for a long time, because due to the content in the local soil of a large number of red clay, this type of craft has gained popularity.

But the special Yaroslavl majolica made, of course, masters who with great love every day create original works. So I recently managed to get acquainted with their work at the Christmas fair.

The wizard brought to the fair of sculpture of small forms, ranging from Christmas decorations to the wall panels. Each product is completely handmade.

To produce such toys and dishes began in the last century. In 1992 in Yaroslavl the workshop of majolica Pavlova and Shepelev was opened. A distinctive feature of all these Souvenirs is that the pattern is applied on the raw enamel and they have a bright color depth.

All these figures are covered with white glaze, which the masters themselves call enamel. Painting of such products is made only on unburned enamel. Then, in the process of firing, the paints are absorbed and acquire a very bright glossy appearance.

Yaroslavl masters applied to the finished product immediately by 2 layers of special glaze. The first layer is added tin, and the second – lead, which gives a beautiful glossy look.

Many people just wanted to hold these toys and Souvenirs in their hands. There were clowns, and flirtatious cats, and touching and lovely earth angels.

The name of this type of ceramics comes from the name of the French sculptor and artist Aristide Maille, famous all over the world for his clay masterpieces.

Although some people believe that the name originated from the island of Mallorca (Mallorca), from which the Genoese were taken Spanish-Moorish ceramic vessels and irrigation tiles, which served as the Israelis to create new unique works.
