The construction of the West Papua trans road, which is carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), connects three strategic tourism locations in the area.
Head of West Papua XVII National Road Implementing Agency (BPJN) Yohanis Tulak in Manokwari, Saturday, 11/17, said that the trans-West Papua road along 1,070.62 kilos meters had been completely open and connected to trans Papua. He is optimistic that 64 percent of them will be paved at the end of 2018. The rest will be continued the following year.
According to him, besides Raja Ampat, West Papua has three leading tourisms, among others, which can be accessed through the trans road, namely Cenderawasih Bay National Park (TNTC), Arfak Mountains tourism and Peak Tourism in Maybrat Regency.
To go to Raja Ampat travelers can enter via Sorong, to the Arfak Mountains can through Manokwari and South Manokwari. Whereas for TNTC and peak tourism in Maybrat can also be visited, because indeed this area is a trans-cross-area.
At present, the road built through the central government budget can be passed even though there are still some points that have not been paved. In segment one is still around 60 kilos which has not been paved from Kumurkek to Meyah. In the second segment, which is still quite long, around 300 kilos from Mameh Manokwari Selatan to the border between Wondama Bay and Nabire.
Yohanis said, new settlements began to grow along the trans roads. Economic activity began to wriggle because the community, especially farmers, were easier to access the market. "This is indeed the aim of the government, agriculture and tourism sector can grow through this development. Hopefully in the future all regions crossed by the trans-economic road will improve, including the adjacent areas," Yohanis said.
