Dear Steemians
Who would have thought that this beautiful and calm Lake Tawar Lake holds a number of mysteries that have not been solved until now? One of them is the Legend of Princess Ijo, the spirits waiting for Lake Laut Tawar, which is said to resemble a mermaid. Around 2001, the people of Takengon were made into a state of excitement, a photo of a group of people taken against the background of Lake Laut Tawar and a figure resembling a dragon sticking out of the water behind them.
Another legend that is no less making goosebumps is about Lembide, another Sea Tawar Lake watchman who is said to be fond of sucking human blood. The legend of Lembide has been known by residents around Lake Laut Tawar for a long time and is spread from generation to generation. Local residents believe, Lembide likes to suck the blood of humans who are swimming in Lake Laut Tawar until they sink and die. Like Parangtritis Beach in Yogyakarta, almost every year there are victims drowning in Lake Laut Tawar and they are found in a state of loss of blood and wounds like fanged animal bites (you have seen vampire films right?) Between their legs.
One more thing that is not less excited is the discovery of an active bomb in the depth of 18 meters Lake Laut Tawar a few years ago and is strongly suspected of being the legacy of the Dutch invaders. Attempts to remove this bomb have not been successful until now and many parties have linked it to the presence of spirits inhabiting Lake Laut Tawar who want the bomb to remain at the bottom of Lake Laut Tawar.
The wisdom behind the three mystical stories was, don't try to swim too far from the edge of Lake Laut Tawar if you can't swim. The clear blue water of Lake Laut Tawar indeed tempts anyone to throw themselves into it. But just so you know, Lake Laut Tawar has different depths and different water temperatures based on its depth.
Bloodthirsty spirits of Lake Laut Tawar inhabitants may be composed by ancient people so that children do not play too far from the lake's edge. Then what about the victims killed? After being investigated it turned out that the victims who died by drowning in Lake Laut Tawar were tourists who came from outside Takengon and they could have drowned because they did not know about Lake Laut Tawar's character. Then the animal bite scars on the victims' bodies? Well maybe it's just being bitten by a mosquito.
If you come from outside Aceh you must first board the plane from your hometown to Banda Aceh's Iskandar Muda Airport. Then from here you can take a public bus or rent a car to get to Takengon with a distance of about 8 to 9 hours. You can also go to Lake Laut Tawar through Medan City and the distance is also shorter, which is about 3-4 hours.
