Benefits of a cup of Black Coffee

Over the last few years, research after study has found that the negative reputation of coffee is no longer valid.

With a note, the coffee you enjoy is
black coffee, not coffee with a lot of milk, cream, or sugar.
Low sugar black coffee not only can fight diabetes and some types of cancer, but also can improve memory and reduce stress.

And, according to a study in the World Journal of Biological Psychiatry, black coffee can actually increase the life expectancy of depressed patients.

The Harvard researchers analyzed data from 200,000 people with varying degrees of stress and depression in three different national surveys.

Every four years, they analyze how much coffee and other forms of caffeine are consumed.

They also looked at the death certificates of participants, finding that 277 of the participants had committed suicide.

Researchers found that people who drank between two and four cups of black coffee per day had only half the chance to die from suicide.

The authors note that this is a benefit of caffeine, because people who drink decaffeinated coffee do not experience this benefit.

In fact, if a person is not at risk for suicide, these findings do prove that coffee can reduce symptoms of depression, by triggering the release of endorphins similar to antidepressant drugs.

Other Harvard study results also found that women had a 15 percent lower risk of developing depression when they drank at least two cups of coffee per day and 20 percent lower when they drank at least three cups of coffee.
