Egyptian politicians who became the first Secretary General of the Arab League period 1365-1373 H / 1945-1952M. The full name of Abdurrahman ibn Muhammad ibn Hasan ibn Salim ibn al-Azzam. He was born in 1311 H / 1893 AD After completing his secondary education in Cairo, in 1328 H / 1910 CE, ja left for London to attend medical school.

However, he chose not to continue his studies because he was more interested in joining Turkish forces in the Balkan War. In the war, he was stationed in Albania.

When World War I broke out, the young Abdurrahman joined the fight as a volunteer wan in Tripoli War and joined the Libyan fighters in Berqa and Tripoli. Through his involvement in the war, he was friendly with Idris Al-Sanusi and Omar Mukhtar, 2 Libyan freedom fighters. Al-Azzam was threatened with death by the Italian authorities and banned from returning to Egypt.

After Egypt declared its independence in 1342 AH / 1923 AD, one year later Abdurrahman was allowed to return to his country and was elected to parliament. He is also immediately believed to be the Egyptian Chargé d'Affaires in Afghanistan and Iran. In 1347 AH / 1928 AD, Abdurrahman served as minister of political affairs and then a social minister.

In the lead up to World War II, Abdurrahman Al-Azzam gained confidence as deputy minister of foreign affairs. In 1365 AH / 1945 CE, he was appointed Secretary-General of the Arab League which he held until 1372 AH / 1952 AD After being replaced by Abdul Khaliq Hassouna, he was appointed as political advisor to the government of the Arab Kingdom of Sau in the United Nations ).

Abdurrahman Al-Azzam has also written a number of Islamic writings, among them Bat things Al-Abthal (book about the life history of Prophet Muhammad SAW) and Al-Risalah Al-Khalidah (on Islamic aqidah). Al Azzam passed away in Cannes, France, on Wednesday 4 Jumada Al-Tsaniyah 1396 H / 2 June 1976 AD, at the age of 83.
