Wishing for a world filled with laughter
yet you faced nothing but defeat.
Does one really need to suffer?

You wanted freedom from your fetters,
as such you're willing to take a gambit.
Wishing for a world filled with laughter.

Why does despair tastes so bitter?
One would rather eat a skinny rabbit...
Does one really need to suffer?

Is he not close to the edge of the meter?
Yet he is still required to move a bit?
Can he not wish for a world filled with laughter?

Is there a need to live our lives faster?
Why can we not just relax and sit?
Does one really need to suffer?

The grass on the other side is fresher
but does it have enough space to fit?
Wishing for a world filled with laughter
yet it seems that one also need to suffer...

What is a Villanelle?

 

A villanelle (also known as villanesque) is a nineteen-line poetic form consisting of five tercets followed by a quatrain. There are two refrains and two repeating rhymes, with the first and third line of the first tercet repeated alternately until the last stanza, which includes both repeated lines. The villanelle is an example of a fixed verse form. The word derives from Latin, then Italian, and is related to the initial subject of the form being the pastoral.
