It will be difficult to get you to agree that we all are unbeatable equals. There is this funny but true discovery I have made about life. Life has this way of trying to make humans equal; equal not in the sense that we possess same potentials, privileges or wealth but in the sense that everyone of us is imbued with unique potentials that others may not necessarily have.
Generally, we feel bad when we participate in anything and fail at it while others excel. I know how painful it used to be in my early school days when our teachers reel out the names of those who fail by the end of the term when we are collecting our results. Sometimes, the other kids boo and jeer them. Some of them enter into adulthood with psychological trauma of being failures.
The truth about life is that we all cannot excel in academics or science like Einstein. We all cannot excel in music like Michael Jackson. We all cannot excel in tech like Ted or Zuckerberg. However, we have our forte.
The problem of our modern day society is the rat race. So many people rapidly rushing into areas they do not fit in. Round pegs in square holes. This end up robbing us of our happiness and productivity. It is more worrisome that many end up their lives this way. Their natural forte gets buried and they are even oblivious of it.
We live in a world of accelerating socio-economic changes. There's virtually anything one does well that will not propel one to stardom. No matter how relatively unknown or insignificant it is. The world makes way for excellence despite who you are, what you do or where you are coming from. Permit me to quote Oprah Winfrey
"Excellence is the best deterrent to racism or sexism."
Imagine Lionel Messi as a music artiste and Michael Jackson as a footballer. Just like they have and discovered their unique abilities and were able to make the best out of them through hardwork and discipline, we can equally achieve that if we work in our own gifted areas. The most important thing is if you can do it well, not what you do.
Step out and conquer!
