New Year 2019: The Meaning in the community

The enthusiasm of the community in waiting for the turn of the year in various places.
The new year, which is usually used as a reference by almost all the people of the world, except for certain countries that still use the calendar according to their respective.

In Indonesia, especially big cities, the New Year's Eve is celebrated with many fireworks and also a lively attraction all night long. Almost all malls and shopping centers interpret New Year's Eve as a crazy night to earn turnover. Namely by holding a massive discount of up to 70%, from late afternoon until 00:00 a.m. Not to forget some recreational places, hotels and restaurants are competing to enliven new year's eve by making an event that can hypnotize visitors to their place.

Then, what exactly is the meaning of the new year's eve? According to what I read from Wikipedia, about new year's eve is a habit in western culture to celebrate with parties or events gathering with relatives, friends, or family waiting at the turn of the year.

Then according to our own society, how do they respond to the atmosphere of the new year's eve? There are various answers when I casually ask friends.

they replied: "New year's eve, with normal nights not much different. Only the new year's eve is just firecrackers, more crowded". "New year's eve? Bokek, payday is going to be watching on TV Thursday". "New year's eve, I'm going for a walk, I can wash my eyes, just go away from the afternoon, if it's not going to be one way"

That was the greeting from several people I interviewed. Their reactions and responses were very different, some responded with mediocrity, some contemplated the traces of a year ago, some were looking for entertainment by watching TV, or some were going to a place to celebrate New Year's Eve or even not at all follow it celebrates, arguing that New Year's Eve is the same as the previous nights.

I think personally, and not in a religious context, even though new year's eve is the same as the usual night, but at least there is a slight difference, namely the atmosphere and the desire that tomorrow is better than the previous day. But that's all, depending on the perception in the wider community, there are those who agree or not with the meaning of the new year's eve.
