Casper FFG:
The Casper FFG Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) has been published, outlining specifications for implementing the hybrid Proof of Stake (PoS)/ Proof of Work (PoW) consensus model on the Ethereum blockchain before the full transition to PoS.
The important details:
- Under the hybrid system, the block reward will fall to 0.6 ETH. The current block reward is over 3 ETH.
- Stakers will have their funds locked up for about 4 months before they can withdraw.
- Interest rate for stakers will be about 5% with 10m ETH staked.
- Minimum deposit size for stakers will be 1500 ETH, worth about $975,000 at today’s prices.
It remains unclear as to when exactly the hybrid model will be introduced.
