Ethereum Prepares for Metropolis Update, Postpones First Step

In 2015, the team issued a four-stage roadmap to implement a full platform. Two phases, Frontier and Homestead, were implemented. Phase III, Metropolis, is about to be released. This stage promises to be the most important upgrade yet, and is designed to make Ethium more secure and scalable, easier to use by non-technical users. The implementation of the city of Metropolis will require a difficult course that was to take place in late September, but was postponed twice. This is expected to be done on 17 October.

Metropolis will be launched in two steps, called Byzantium and Constantinople. Besanetium entered the testing phase on September 19, and despite some minor issues, it seems stable.
