A wile ago I briefly wrote about a social network targeted at young people, namely Kik, and their intention to launch an ECR20 token, called Kin.
Well, the time has come to register. If you want to participate in the token sale, you have to pre-register first, by following this link. I strongly urge you though to read the UserGuides first (there are 3, one of the users, and two related to general Ethereum operations).
Here are the blurbs:
- registration for the token will cease 72 hours prior to the actual sale
- the registration will include your Ethereum address (the one from which you will send tokens)
- you can only contribute Ethereum
- if you are a US citizen and if you want to invest more than 100,000 USD, you will be required to follow a more complex verification process
- if you're not a US citizen, you will be required to follow the same registration process, regardless of the amount you want to contribute
- they aim to cap it at $75 millions (that's quite a large amount, even for an established business)
- the goal of this new crypto-currency, KIN, is to be "a general purpose cryptocurrency, for use in everyday digital services". That's interesting.
If you want to know more, or to register for the token sale, go at kin.kik.com.

Registration done. Let's see, it looks but as you said, the only thing I don't like is that cap, too high indeed, there are not a lot of ICO over that amount

I've registered, I think it will do great long term but there are some things I do not know how to feel about. The sale is just for 10% of the tokens, making that $75 mil cap meaningless in a way. The effective inflation for the first year is pretty damn large. Anyway, I will chuck some small amounts into it and see what happens, I will probably keep at least part of them for a few years I hope.

Yikes, $75m is for only 10%. Will catch this one after it tanks after ICO on Etherdelta.

If I was investing that much in crypto, then I wouldn't be worrying about the extra steps.

I haven't used the app myself, but my friends use it quite often. Kik is similar to most other social networking apps out there that are chat rooms(like discord). I'm guessing that its a very niche market. The sale may go very well but I can't say the same about the currency KIN itself.

I'll be sure to check this out
Kik already has a pretty big user base and I know a couple of friends that use it.
This might be pretty big in the future

I also registered with a small investment. It will be an interesting experience, as this will be my first ICO (did quite a number of IPOs before, but never an ICO). Thanks for the hint, Dragos!
