Actually I've just remembered one real application of Ethereum blockchain. The biggest bank of Russia called Sberbank is using Ethereum to do proxing service (don't ask me what is it, because I don't know) in their internet wallet account service (i.e. internet bank accounting). And the reason they use it for proxing it that it doesn't need many transactions per second because it is quite rare operation for average bank user.

A lot of large banks are beginning to use ripple for that; the dao smart contract failure caused banks to become uncertain towards eth because losing 2 weeks of data in a hard fork for them is a lot of work, that they can not afford to lose.

There are too many emerging altcoins that will do the same thing, possibly better. It's inevitable that a better option comes along.
