I tried figuring out why the price in Ethereum dropped so suddenly today and brought many of the cryptos along for the ride. Aside from the seemingly, unending problems over at Coinbase and the trailing transaction processing on the Ethereum blockchain, there is a story floating on the internet that Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Etherum, is dead. So far as I can tell based on Vitalik's Twitter feed that gives a blockchain proof of life: he's NOT dead.
Ok, cool thing ... someone needs to confirm if this is the first case of a blockchain proof of life; because that would be awesome and of epic proportions.
But, more importantly for the future of cryptocurrencies, this is the reason why the knowledge of cryptocurrency creators is such a big deal. Hence, it is probably a boon for Bitcoin that Satoshi Nakamoto remains a secret. In the early years of a crypto's life, the status of the crypto's creators can have an outsized effect on the cryptocurrency in terms of viability and especially its value. For those who invest in Ethereum, let this be a cautionary tale about what could happen in Ethereum if something were to actually happen to Vitalik.
Bottom line, Vitalik is not dead and Ethereum needs a better governance model that doesn't place so much importance on a single point of failure.
Disclosure: I do not currently hold any Ethereum.

The main thing that worries me about Ethereum is the diversity of contributors. By diversity I don't mean race, gender, etc, even though that's important as well. Ultimately the EEA will be incredibly helpful but we need more people contributing to the code and we need more people from different countries and industries contributing to the code.
At the end of the day, we don't need a "Chinese Ethereum" if many Chinese developers contribute code to our project and make our project that much better. The Ethereum foundation needs to figure out to make the project more inclusive and bring in bright minds from outside the current tech circle.
Oh and Satoshi Nakamoto is alive too. ;)

Haha, indeed he or they are alive but we don't know who he or they are. OR, we may not know that we know who he or they are.
