Yes, the fees are very high and not only on Coinbase. That's why we need a Segwit which is not a permanent solution and Hardfork which can resolve this issue :D

    I'm still learning about all this stuff but Coinbase has screwed me over twice now, with its purchase limits and also with the site being down. I attempted to buy ethereum for the first time when it's was at $90 about a month and a half ago but coinbases limited me to spending $150 per week.... what a Joke, I had $1000 to put towards it and only ended up with 4 ethereum by the end of it.

      you should buy only bitcoin then go to poloniex.com and buy from there other coins, very low fees and website is always online :)
