MetaMask Warns About Latest Phishing on Legit Sites

in ethereum •  7 years ago  (edited)

Dear MetaMask Users,
There have been several instances of high-profile legitimate websites such as BTC Manager and Games Workshop that have had their websites temporarily compromised. This involves showing a fake MetaMask window on the page asking for user's seed phrases. MetaMask will never open itself in this way and users are encouraged to report these instances immediately to either our phishing blacklist or our support email at [email protected]

Here you can verify the sites they add as bad ones:

How is the hack done? Some normally legit sites show you a popup in spot close to where MetaMask opens and you enter seed there by mistake.

I can totally understand that some people might fall for that scam, especially if this pops up on a website they usually trust. Thanks for the warning!

All things considered, there is just a single thing to state...

On the off chance that you trust cryptos are the eventual fate of cash, at that point today is the most minimal value you will ever observe. (comparitively, year on year ROI)

In the event that you don't trust that cryptos are the future, than everything I can state is that any crypto buy is a bet. Since nobody can take a gander at a diagram and confirm that MtGox trustee would dump bitcoin.

We always need to be careful!

never ever give your seed to strange site :) thanks for that reminder :)

Or even better; never give your seed phrase to any website, even one you trust.

yes never ever :D

There's danger everywhere. thanks for the warning.
