AMA’s are fantastic mainly because they tend to show the ridiculous side of human beings in a raw and unfiltered way.

I just discovered BlockGeeks on Twitter because they create amazing infographics on a regular basis. I found myself on the Ethereum blockchain today, contemplating whether or not to bet on some fish in the game, http://pray4prey.com/. Before buying some ETH for fish betting on the blockchain, I got distracted and found out that Vitalik Buterin had just finished his AMA on the blockgeeks.com website.

For your amusement, I have picked out the most absurd questions that Vitalik was asked today at his AMA.

You’ll notice that Vitalik, of course didn't answer any of the following questions:

Chris K. @chrisk

Do all the ladies follow you around now that you are famous? How often are you recognized randomly in public?

jussi nieminen @jussi69

How many Ethereum developers does it take to change a lightbulb?

When do you plan to retire?

Do you think Golem rocks?

Michael Thuy @michaelthuy

Is it fun your dad is also a blockchain geek, or do you sometimes wish he was a chef or carpenter?

James Morrison @jamesmorrison

Have you ever done mushrooms, man?

And, hands down, here was the most entertaining question Vitalik was asked:

Dmitry Buterin @dmitry-buterin

Is Ethereum a scam? Are you a shill for Goldman Sachs? )))

Vitalik Buterin @vbuterin

Is Ethereum a scam?
Yes.

Are you a shill for Goldman Sachs? )))

I can’t believe you fall for such fake news you disgusting shill. Morgan Stanley would never dishonor themselves so much as to not outbid Goldman by at least a factor of 2.

IN CASE YOU WERE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING MORE SUBSTANTIAL

Matt McGivern @matt-mcgivern

  1. Do you have any personal heroes or individuals you admire (either related or unrelated to the work you do)?

Vitalik Buterin @vbuterin

Can’t think of a good answer for this.

There are some really good topics discussed here like Proof of Stake, the role of quantum computing in the future and ideas about governance. Of course, I didn't focus on those. Instead I zeroed in on the absurdity of the AMA experience.

Then, of course, there was a considerable amount of new information which I will need to study in order to even grasp what was discussed.

New words to learn: Merkle.

Vitalik is my hero; you won't find a more dedicated Ethereum fanboy than me. It has some amazing use cases and could propel blockchain technology to a whole new level of mainstream acceptance. It's great that Vitalik makes himself so readily accessible to the community. He's even personally responded on occasion to comments I made on some Reddit posts. So it's kind of disheartening to see people wasting his time with such banal questions. But I guess that's just the nature of us silly, flawed human beings.

By the way, for anyone who doesn't know much about Ethereum and wants a bit of an overview, I wrote an introduction to it recently:

interesting. I can't remember which I found first, Ethereum or Steemit. I think I came across an Ethereum video around the same time I found steemit. I was a fangirl for like two minutes before I saw @dantheman crush him during an interview.......I think his youth might be something that has positives and negatives.....It certainly does support the idea of mainstream adoption. I am curious though if the DAO disaster hadn't happened, would Ethereum be farther along than it is right now?

Where did you find that interview? I've always thought it would be fun to see a debate between Vitalik and Dan. I understand they have very different viewpoints. But from what you say it sounds like Vitalik didn't fare so well.

I think the DAO disaster was a huge setback for Ethereum. Similar to Mt. Gox did with Bitcoin, the DAO tainted public perception of Ethereum for a while, though I believe we have mostly moved past that by now. It also set development back quite a bit since the Ethereum Foundation had to devote so many resources to dealing with the DAO. If not for that distraction, we might have reached the Metropolis milestone by now. But things seem back on track , and ultimately the Ethereum network is stronger for having survived the ordeal. Certainly the renewed focus on security of smart contracts has been a big positive from the whole thing.

Wonderful, thanks! Something fun to start my weekend off with. :-)

It's a really good one! The only video I'm aware of that has Vitalik and Dan asking questions.....

"Do all the ladies follow you around now that you are famous?" just great😂! Good information! Thank you @stellabelle !

not sure how 'good' it is, but I can bet no one else will zero in on the absurd questions.

No one asked about his prior business?

which was?

Vaporware Inc (allegedly). ;)

He wanted to build "a computer program to solve NP-complete problems".

When that didn't work out ... Ethereum!

Or so the story goes.

I wasn't there, so I don't know, but I read things and it has an impact when it comes from certain people.

so that's where the term, 'vaporware' came from originally?

so that's where the term, 'vaporware' came from originally?

no I was being facetious.

He didn't actually own a company called "Vaporware Inc.", his company was alleged to have been seeking funding for vaporware or perhaps something unattainable by some knowledgeable people's standards would be a more polite way to put it.

The fact stands that "vaporware" was the word used to describe it by others.

I really like your funny videos but from a time I dislike the fact that some posts in Steemit are just a way of getting more viewers for content not hosted here.

Please, don't take it the way it is not: I am not telling that I would prefer you stop posting here your YouTube videos. I am saying that I would prefer to see more original content in Steemit, in general.

Hop on Steemit chat when you get the opportunity.

ok i need a little time
