This Monday, the Ethereum Foundation released a new series of grants totalling more than $2 million to prepare a protocol for the transition to the second phase of its development.
As the organization notes, the grants have been distributed over the past few months and have been awarded to "leading client development teams who are currently working on a multi-client network as development approaches the zero phase.
The following projects and developers have been awarded Ethereum Foundation grants:
Harmony - $189,000 for development for Beacon Chain;
Prysmatic Labs - $725,000 for Prysm client development;
Sigma Prime - $485,000 (with ConsenSys) for Lighthouse client development;
Status - $500,000 for Nimbus client development and $150,000 (with ConsenSys) for nim-libp2p development;
Whiteblock - $184,000 (with ConsenSys) for Eth 2.0 network testing and interoperability solution development;
Dmitry Khovratovich - $10,000 for the Legendre PRF security report and Proof-of-Custody design for the first phase of Eth 2.0;
Chainsafe - $217,500 to develop the lightweight Lodestar client and provide javascript support in Eth 2.0.
In addition, the Ethereum Foundation offers a 5 ETH bounty award for any recommendations, including bug fixes and optimizations, that will be included in the Eth 2.0 zero phase specification prior to the release of the first unit on the new network.
In May, representatives of the Ethereum Foundation announced that they would spend $30 million to develop various projects for their ecosystem over the next year.
