Ethnobotany - Psychoactive plants, medicinal herbs

in ethnobotany •  7 years ago  (edited)

I'm author of the german website http://magischepflanzen.de - a homepage about ethnobotany.
I publish articles about psychoactive plants or healing herbs, lists with plants (such as ten sleeping herbs), recipes and more.

Psychoactive plants are a very fascinating topic.
The use of plants, that alter the counsciousness, is present in all societies.
Coffe, cacao, and tobacco are widely known, as well as chamomille, coca or the opium poppy.
Some of them are legal, some are not. Some are normal, some are stigmatised.

I'm interested in the usual psychoactive herbs, as well as in more unknown ones.
For example: I have written articles about Dendrobium nobile, which is an orchid with kind of cannabis like effects, that can be smoked (http://magischepflanzen.de/dendrobium-nobile).

About Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum), an african plant, that has a strong effect on the serotonin recepetors & can be powdered and insufflated. Some people compare it's effect to cocaine, but it's totally legal (http://magischepflanzen.de/kanna).

I love reading reports about the use or rare seen plants. Erowid is a good source for them!

PS: The war on drugs has failed, and it has to end!
