thank you to @riverflows for the cool new contest image!

Alright, y'all, round one is almost over (you have about five hours), but don't worry because the contest runs ALL MONTH LONG! Any entry received after round one will just be part of round two, and EVERY entry entered in EVERY round is eligible again for a grand prize at the end of the month! Yes, you can enter into a given round as many times as you like, as long as your entries are for different items on the list of ideas. No repeats, even on different rounds.

What's the list of ideas again? So glad you asked. Simply do one of these things, write a post about it, and drop a link to your post in the comments. Don't forget to include pictures!

  1. Do a #cleanplanet #litterwalk (check @cleanplanet for rules)
  2. google your local recycling facility’s rules about what items they accept, if they need to be separated, etc.
  3. buy something from the grocery using your own containers instead of disposable packaging, whether that’s a bulk section, the deli, the salad bar, etc.
  4. Walk or bike somewhere you would normally drive. Use @actifit app and get tokens for those steps while you’re at it (not mandatory to count for this contest)!
  5. upcycle something!
  6. Call or write a snail mail letter to your local representative(s) about a green issue
  7. Contact a company about their packaging and how it could be better
  8. Contact a bank or university about divesting from fossil fuels
  9. Have a #meatlessmonday
  10. Bring your lunch in reusable containers if you normally get takeout, or bring your containers to the restaurant to replace disposables (like, a mug for coffee or your own utensils instead of using plastic or a Tupperware instead of asking for a doggie bag)
  11. Acquire or make something to be a reusable replacement for something you normally would use a disposable of, like cloth napkins, handkerchiefs, sanitary pads, cloth shopping bags, or glass or stainless steel straws
  12. Do a trash audit; figure out what area you should focus on reducing your waste
  13. Plant a tree (or a tree seed!)
  14. Find a replacement for some product you regularly use that has palm oil in it, without palm oil
  15. Find a replacement for some product you regularly use made with virgin fiber or plastic, made out of recycled fibers or plastic
  16. Find a replacement for some product you regularly use made of plastic, made of a greener material (bonus points if you replace a #3 vinyl plastic item!)
  17. Learn how to make something from scratch with greener materials or without a lot of packaging that you would normally buy heavily processed and packaged, for example food or body care items
  18. Plant wildflowers for the bees, if it’s the right time of year for you (make sure they are pesticide-free!)
  19. Set up a composting system for your home!
  20. Buy or make a greener xmas present for someone on your list!
  21. Wrap presents in reusable or recyclable material (most wrapping paper isn’t recyclable)
  22. Upvote someone using @treeplanter
  23. Buy something #fairtrade and/or #organic that you would normally buy conventional (food, clothes, anything!)
  24. Research #permaculture and share with us some ideas you plan to implement in your garden
  25. Buy something that was locally produced that you normally buy sourced from far away
  26. Have an #earthhour and write about your experience
  27. Make a bee/insect motel for local pollinators
  28. Make a bat house
  29. Donate to an environmental charity
  30. Replace your bottled water habit with a filter of some kind and a reusable water bottle
  31. Recycle your e-waste

Did you say moar SBI?

Why yes, I did! We had TWO more sponsors chip in more SBI shares. Thanks to @nateonsteemit for chipping in five shares, @riverflows for chipping in ten shares, and @ecoinstant for chipping in twenty shares! So now the pool is 37 shares of @steembasicincome (because I originally had two shares on offer, plus 35 sponsored shares)! Here's how that gets distributed out:

Round One -

through 23:59 PM MST on 8 December. 6 shares up for grabs! How they are divvied up depends on how many people enter.

Round Two -

through 23:59 PM MST on 16 December. 6 more shares up for grabs!

Round Three -

through 23:59 MST on 24 December. 6 more shares!

Round Four -

through 23:59 MST on 31 December. 6 shares again!

Bonus Round! 13 shares will go to two grand prize winners from all the entries received throughout the month - 1st place gets eight shares, and 2nd place gets five shares!

How do you decide who wins?

My cats decide, as kitties are the best judges of hoomans. It's a very important cat job, you know.

(not my cat, lol)

So get out there, do something for our Mother Danu, and help us get our lifestyles more aligned with the natural closed-loop, give-and-take system that is our Spaceship Earth. Be good, Steemit! <3

Yoo hoo 😊 Here's my entry for round two 😎

Hooray! Also, holy cow, your step count! O:

I know! I got distracted - walked to my local shops and then it was such a lovely day I walked over the park and down into the town, wandered about a bit and then walked home ... when I discovered I had forgotten to buy some milk and had to go out again to the corner shop! I was pretty impressed myself 😎

Hey @phoenixwren, great challenge!

Here's my entry. I did a cleanup at the beach today https://steempeak.com/cleanplanet/@grizzabella/cleanup-at-the-beach

Hey hey! Does today's project count?

I made a worm composter out of a couple buckets. The buckets are usually tossed in the trash at work, so I get them for free!

Totally! You're in! :)

Hah! Accidentally snuck in a post!

@thetreeoflife motivated me to get out today and make a worm bucket like I've been wanting to do for months. Took less than an hour, most of which was spent looking g for my damn hole saw! Hahahaha

I made mine out of kitty litter buckets, which I had accumulated too many of. >^_^<

That's great!

I don't have inside cats, so no need for litter thankfully. The kids already make more poop than I know what to do with!

LOL! Thankfully I can refill my litter buckets at Petco. But I had accumulated extras, like, there was a coupon for 50% off a new bucket but not refills, instances like that. I still have three I can refill at any time plus the little jug size too. Five buckets was too many. XD

Now that 50% off kitty litter buckets is 50% off a few composter! :D

Right? LOL

OH!! I'm going to do this right noW!!!

Gonowfasthurry!

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks great. Can I be super picky and say 'more' is 'more' not 'moar'? Sorry!!! Spelling nazi alert... it does stand out though - unless it's a special word and I've missed something? Resteeming! Looks great! They all know about it in @naturalmedicine too, but I'm going to shamelessly tag some crew I think would love to enter! - @trucklife-family, @porters, @thetreeoflife, @digitaldan, @celestialcow, @el-nailul ... xx

Moar is for emphasis. Not English, but internet speak. Think it started in Japan?

Posted using Partiko Android

AH, cool ... glad I stand corrected!!! It was too glaring a mistake to be real... :) Learn something new every day!

Moar is internet speak, it's intentional. I'm a reformed grammar nazi and have edited published novels (including my own, but others, too). :P LOL

You just planted 0.05 tree(s)!
