Daily Bible: They do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God

The apostle Peter in his first epistle, requests us to put to death the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21), in order to live in imitation of Jesus ("Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children" Ephesians 5:1), and for this, the apostle tells us we have the baptism, and this sacrament is not merely an external sign, it is a personal commitment with God. We are all sinners, we are all subject in one way or another to error, through baptism, sin ceases to be a habit and a custom to become an exception, and when sin is committed, there is a purpose of amendment, because our neighbor is not an enemy, but a brother. No one is perfect, but the Christian's spiritual warfare consists in being a little more like Jesus every day. The Kingdom of Heaven (the dominion of God's qualities and perfections) begins with the small decisions of every day, the gift of righteousness (golden rule, Matthew 7:12), the life in the grace of God, is progressive and expansive like the yeast tha mixed with flour ferment the whole dough.
We also have the example of Christ, who was baptized in the Jordan and gave his life for us: "Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin." 1 Peter 4:1. And so having Christ in our hearts with fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion) we can put to death the deeds of the flesh, as they did the first christians who follow with faith the apostle Peter: "As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debaucher, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry" 1 Peter 4:2-3.
