Hindu Theory of Evolution

What Prompted Me To Write This Post?

One of my current favorite songs is All The Stars by Kendrik Lamar and SZA. The song sounds and looks esoteric and makes me respect the African culture. Africans have been portrayed as poor and illiterate by the media but Marvel Studios’ Black Panther has done a great job to show that there may be more to their history. There are these scenes that show super-humans that are about 10 feet and 30 feet tall. These fit perfectly with the Hindu theory of evolution and it is not just the director's imagination.

Our Ancestors Were Monkeys?

When I was a child growing up in Nepal, being the curious child I was, I especially remember watching tv channels like National Geographic, Discovery, History and so on. I loved science, technology and history. Consequently, I could spend hours watching shows about Neanderthals and other cavemen. I was fascinated that our ancestors were actually so dumb but brave. Humans started off as monkeys, they said. In particular, Charles Darwin popularized the theory of evolution by publishing a book, Origin of Species in 1859(palomar.edu). His research and theory was circulated worldwide and taught in schools. I was told by Charles Darwin that humans came from monkeys. As a child I believed it.

Now, if I was born in the US I would probably have never questioned the caveman theory. But as a Nepalese child, I had the unique advantage of knowing what my ancestors had written in books millions of years ago. Yes, you read that right, Hindu history is millions of years old. There is no mention of us being monkeys in these books; humans have always been humans. In fact, instead of progressing from monkeys to cavemen to humans, we are degrading as the ages go by. We have downgraded from enlightened beings who lived much longer and happier to beings with unhealthy minds and bodies.

The Four Ages

Hindu epics say that there are four yugas or ages that the human race goes through; life on earth is a cycle of these four yugas which repeat in loop. The four yugas: Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga and Kali Yuga last 4,320,000 years(harekrishnatemple.com). Currently, we are in the worst age, i.e. Kali Yuga. In Hindu history, there are no dinosaurs, cavemen, half-monkeys and so on. How humans were formed is another post by itself but we did not come from monkeys.

Satya Yuga

The first yuga is Satya yuga is when humans are at the epitome of greatness. This is the golden age because there is no disease, evil, sorrow, sadness and enmity. Humans are involved in utmost spiritual practices like meditation, prayer, etc. They lived for 100,000 years and had an height of about 32 feet.

Treta Yuga

In second yuga, the Treta Yuga, human virtues decline by a quarter. Due to declining morality and discipline, human height is reduced to about 21 feet and they live for 10,000 years. The great Hindu epic Ramayana written by sage Valmiki describes of the time in Treta Yuga when prince Rama was born in north India and ruled Ayodhya which is still a town in Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Our presidents rule for eight years at the maximum. Do you know how long king Rama ruled? He ruled for 11, 000 years(Valmiki Ramayana). Valmiki’s Ramayana says, "On reverencing the kingdom for ten thousand years plus another one thousand years, i.e. for a total of eleven thousand years, Rama voyages to the abode of Brahma... [1-1-97].” I have also heard from elders that there was another king named Bharata who ruled for 10,000 years as well.

Dvapara Yuga

Next is the Dvapara Yuga when virtue and sin were divided into equal halves. Normal human stature was 10 feet and human lifespan went down to 1,000 years. Another Hindu epic Mahabharata was written by Ved Vyas about a great war that happened during this period. Moreover, the Mahabharata is the longest poem in the world with 100,000 stanzas (book). One of the interesting events is when the protagonists go to exile for 14 years. If a human goes to jail for 14 years now, it is almost all of her youth; it is a big deal. In Dvapara Yuga, the banishment for 14 years was a common event because the life expectancy was 1,000 years.

Source

Kali Yuga

The final age is the Kali Yuga which has only one quarter virtue and the rest is taken over by sin. We are in this age and can verify what was said. Average human stature is reduced to 5.2 feet and average human lifespan is about 100 years. Worse, human life expectancy will keep decreasing and they will eventually die at around 20 years towards the end of Kali Yuga. Duration of life, physical strength and memory will all diminish day by day.

Where Is The Evidence?

If you search the internet, you can find hundreds of pictures that show giant skeletons being unearthed. Skeptics will immediately say the images are photoshopped. Thus, I won't bother posting images here about them as any image can be considered fake. Let me remind you that if these skeletons were found, our government will never allow us to see those. Apparently there are burial mounds all over America with giants that were promptly seized by authorities(wisconsinsickness.com).

Let's look at a concrete evidence in an Indian temple that you can go visit today. The Lepakshi Temple in India has a giant footprint which belonged to a person at least 25 feet tall. Locals say that the footprint is of Rama's wife Sita who was petite for people at that time. Moreover, greater evidence are two special Hindu structures that are in the temple which are 15 feet and 12 feet tall respectively. Every temple that these two special structures are in, they must be in close proximity to each other. Every Indian temple with the two statues follow the rule that one statue can be seen through the other. However, in the Lepakshi Temple they are 500 meters apart. Humans would have to be about 30 feet tall for them to see one statue through the other. 'Phenomenal Travel Videos' on YouTube shows this fact on their video.(Phenomenal Travel Videos)

Conclusion

We have been told and taught the theory of evolution because of the research done by one man, Charles Darwin. This may be the truth and we may have come from monkeys. On the other hand, I have laid out some facts from ancient books written by Hindu historians. What do you think of the theory of evolution? Could we be degrading instead of evolving? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks,
Logical Hindu

Though I'll be pointing out some errors in this comment, my intention is to be critical of the ideas you've presented, not of you personally.

Your literal interpretation of the sacred texts of Sanatana Dharma has missed the point. If we judge things as "improving" or "degrading" we make a judgement. When we judge something to be good or bad we reinforce maya.

When I read through these texts I see allegory employed in order to teach us, not a literal history. It is easier for us to learn from allegorical stories than by reading pure theory. Also, the ineffable is by definition impossible to talk about, this is why so many sacred texts employ metaphor and other symbolism.

Besides that, your description of evolution, though common, is not quite right. First, monkeys and human share a common ancestor; neither of us came from the other. You didn't come from your cousin. You and your cousin both came from your grandparents.

Also, evolutionary theory is the result of the work of thousands of scientists, not one man. After On the Origin of Species, researchers quickly began testing his hypothesis. From their work we know that, for example, a giraffe doesn't lengthen it's neck over its lifetime—evolution works on the scale of entire populations.

Punctuated equilibrium is the pattern we see in both the fossil record and in genetics. These realization refined Darwin's ideas. In science, we throw out what is incorrect and tentatively hold onto what seems most correct. This is how his hypothesis has become a theory even though several of his ideas were wrong.

Furthermore, "cavemen" weren't "dumb." They are biologically indistinguishable from us. That means, they had the exact same capacity for knowledge we do. The difference is that we stand on the shoulders of our ancestors. We are able to understand more because our predecessors figured out so much before us. With proper teaching a "caveman" could understand nuclear physics.

For neanderthals, the science isn't as settled, but we do know they were at least as mentally capable as a 5-year-old human. We know this because bonobos have such a mental capacity and we are much more distantly related to them. We also know that Neanderthals buried their dead with garlands of flowers which indicates some social cohesion and perhaps a conception of "afterlife."

We know the Indus Valley Civilization goes back to a maximum extent of about 5500 years ago, not millions. Of course, the culture which became the IVC goes back further, but there weren't settled cities yet. There also wasn't writing in South Asia until this period, so the Vedas cannot be more than 5,500 years old. Liberal estimates put them at 4,000 years old at most.

These facts do not indicate that the sacred texts are wrong in their messages. It's just that they needn't be taken as literal historical accounts.

I believe in the Hindu theory of evolution. If you check out other ancient civilizations, they suggest the same. I believe the elites are hiding a lot of truths from us. You might find this video interesting:

Also,

Average human stature is reduced to 5.2 inches and average human

I think you meant 5.2 ft? :P
