A Week With... Mygrane McNastee's "#TheCoven"

First off, Mygrane McNastee's music is not for the faint of heart. You WILL hear things on this album that will make someone in the room uncomfortable, intentionally. That's not a knock because it's really about the way in which the discomfort takes place on this project. #TheCoven can punish closed-minded people into empathizing with a point of view you usually wouldn't. The soundscape that accompanies the lyrics helps complete the theme even more. There's only one song I can say as of this writing that I don't like, but more on that later.

Mygrane in an unexpected way, cleverly touches on topics from unique perspectives while still living within the theme of #TheCoven.

On my 3rd listen of this project, I attempted to split the song list into categories. Like some songs might be more theme and production based while others are more lyric and concept driven. When song sorting is not as clear cut for this type of categorization, that indicates appropriate amounts of production atmosphere, lyrical skill and concept development, per song. Again, while still completely living in the theme.
#TheCoven seems to be methodical in its creation so that every piece fits together in that sense. There's only one song didn't get my attention in any of my first 3 plays (3 different days, moods, times of day...). Nonnaihr.... maybe I'll do an addendum as to why i skipped this one on plays 4 and 5. As of writing this, I don't really have a reason to put in words.
