Extracting coinmarketcap.com info into Microsoft Excel

in excel •  7 years ago

Many of us just like myself are great Excel users and prefer to plot the data into Excel before performing analysis. Coinmarketcap.com is an excellent source for that.

There is a way that allows you to extract Coinmarketcap data (prices, trends and caps) into Microsoft Excel and get a live data feed from the source when hitting the refresh.

Simple steps to take:

  1. Copy https://coinmarketcap.com/ link to the clipboard (Ctrl+C)
  2. Open new excel worksheet and Select -> Data -> From Web
  3. Paste the https://coinmarketcap.com/ link in the Address field on the top and press "Go".

It takes some seconds to load the data. Proceed with pressing the "Import" in the bottom of the dialog box after data load from website has been finished.

All you have to do is to choose the destination cell, press OK and apply your own formatting.

If you want to refresh the data from Coinmarketcap.com you can simply press "Refresh all" in the Microsoft Excel Data Ribbon and MS Excel will insert the latest data from https://coinmarketcap.com/

This is an excellent tool for analyzing movements between ranks for Cryptos, comparing increases in price and market caps over time and identifying emerging coins.
