P90X - Day 2 (February 27th) - Plyometrics

There's a reason this post is so late and it's an excuse I use far too often.

"I dont have time to workout today."

It's only day 2 and I'm beginning to realize this will be just as much of a mental challenge as it will be a physical one. It was a late night at work and I had made plans to go to dinner with an old friend. I tried to find time throughout the day to fit in the workout but it seemed like an impossible task. How would I find 1 hour of free time... It sounds stupid. On a typical day I'll waste more than an hour scrolling through my phone, surfing the web, or watching tv. I always seem to make time for those pointless interruptions, but I can't find an hour to better myself? There are 24 hours in the day, 1 hour of physical punishment shouldn't be hard to fit in. No more excuses.

Better late than never! I did it, day 2 is complete! The soreness in my arms, chest, and abs, from yesterday's workout, is a painful reminder of the many lazy days I made excuses not to exercise. Hopefully it will dissipate soon... I'm already making plans to not be able to use my legs tomorrow, after today's workout!

Plyometrics, or jump training, is as brutal as it sounds. Today we took a break from the resistance workouts to focus more on cardio and leg strength. We did various types of squats, lunges, and jumping routines all aimed at improving my ability to run faster, jump higher, and be more agile. Up and down, up and down, for nearly an hour straight! Within 15 minutes the sweat had begun to drip from brow. About 30 minutes in, my legs felt like rubber. But I persisted. I even did the bonus moves at the end of the workout!

Tomorrow, day 3, we focus on arms and shoulders. I think it's important that I establish a strict routine. I am going to try working out in the morning, before work. 5am will be here soon! Thanks for following along!
