This is where we live. Every morning I walk out of my door and step out side into the cool brisk morning fully equipped with my ear buds and running shoes. Most mornings I’m excited to get out there and pound the pavement but once in a while I am hindered by that negative voice that says “you’re tired today, just run tomorrow.”
As loud as that voice gets, it’s soon replaced by the over whelming feeling of freedom and lightness that consumes me as I proceed anyway.
With each step, I visualize my spirit growing, ballooning into a massive energy of love, tolerance and generosity. With each passerbyer I freely and genuinely share a wave assisted with a smile from ear to ear. When I began running in my neighborhood, very rarely would somebody reciprocate a good morning gesture as if it truly was painful for them to do so. Rather than letting that perception dictate my energy towards those I encounter, I double down. My smile becomes bigger than before and my “good morning” is said with more excitement.
You see, I’ve made this connection that it is my responsibility to give freely, the love I generate, to each and every person I encounter without any expectation of a return. It’s enough that I am genuinely excited to greet them and am not concerned with any outcome. This is similiar to my philosophy on Steemit. Although, being financially rewarded for your efforts is nice, the heart beat of the community is propelled by the friends we make here.
Running provides this opportunity for me to set up my soul with a fountain of endless compassion and joy. The more I share this energy with the outside world, the bigger and more impactful the energy gets. Some regular morning walkers have come to recognize me, expecting me to greet them with this warmth; they now beat me to the punch sometimes. It’s important that while we are out in the world we are spreading positive, good energy for it's just as contagious as spreading toxic, negative energy.
The other morning, while running my usual path along the water, I was stopped by a man walking his dog to tell me to glance over to three dolphins frolicking, less then ten feet from where we were standing, in the water. This was a magical addition to the beauty and peace I am able to attain internally each morning.
Maybe this feeling I get can be ascribed to where I am in my life now, maybe it’s due to the people who are in my life now, for whatever reason I walk out of my door each morning, sometimes weighted down by what feels like bricks on my ankles, only to return feeling light as a butterfly and armored with this impenetrable peace and love. So I choose to run, I choose to run for my relationships, for my husband, for all of the folks I’d miss saying “good morning” to, if I let that voice convince me to just go tomorrow.
Beautiful post. There are a lot of elements of Zen Buddhism in your post. Remember to always cherish the moment and to commit yourself wholeheartedly to the present so that each day you don't miss anything like the dolphins passing by. The mind truly is at peace when focusing on the present and sharing joy. We could use more people like you in Winterfell, I mean New York!

Haha… 1. That was funny and 2. Thank you for saying that. Today alone, peddling our bikes on the boardwalk along the coast line and we see dolphins jumping in and out of the waves. Things like that are magical to me and should be cherished by everyone; it’s even free. I appreciate you reading my post and taking the time to comment. Keep doing what you do because there are many people here that will enjoy it.

I love love love your post. I love jogging as well, sometimes i have to force myself to go, but when i do, something magical takes place in the mind, especially if the environment is as beautiful as the pics above. I was over weight at the time i was jogging, I use to ask my self "how bad do you want change" lol, but it kept me going.

Thank you so much for reading! I understand the forcing thing, however, running is so meditative. Bruce Lee said, “long term consistency trumps short term intensity”. You should be very proud of yourself for all of the great changes you’ve made for the health of your body. Running is a perfect addition to any work out regime for it not only keeps you in shape but also allows for an emotional release of static energy, leaving you refreshed. Keep up the good work @nickall
