Unexpected improvement

I just finished a 5.893km running that lasted about 0hh:37mm:33ss !

Sometimes it goes like that, you plod along and then suddenly... improvement! I'm still on 5m/1.5m intervals. The difference today is that I did remember my headphones and so I was not totally distracted by waiting for and dealing with shifts between walking and running, but also I tried something that I can only describe as "running better" - form? technique? whatever, it seems to have worked because I got in some personal bests on the shorter distances - fastest mile and fastest kilometer. And my ankle is not complaining too much either - this training lark might actually work!

Good job getting personal bests!

Good stuff. Intervals really do work as I'm seeing improvements from them. It's great when you beat a personal record and I see it as a race between age and fitness. Trying to push back the plateau :)

particularly so when I'm walking one-quarter of the time! My aim at the moment is to find a sustainable way of running regularly with as little injury as possible. I also want to fit some other forms of exercise especially for the winter.

Do you swim? Could be good for the winter. There are simple exercises you can do at home with little equipment. I have done the 7 minute workout, but I usually do it a couple of times in a session.
