A Sonic Universe - Sound Design as Key to Understanding Physical Reality | Foreword

A bold title I know, but ever since I got into sound design I have come across many curious parallels between sonic mechanics and how life unfolds within our immediate experience as human beings.

There are certain characteristics of sound and the way it behaves, the gateways it enables and the way it can be used to better approach a useful and - almost guiding - model of reality that may be more in tune with the demands, challenges and gifts of life than the ones we are fed growing up in our day and age. A model to help us relate to our experience as conscious beings within a inexplicably complex environment - physical reality.

And even if I am barking up the wrong tree here I felt for the longest time that something had to be said about it, aggregated in a logical & linear manner and eventually written down as a series, split up into coherent segments.

Before we dive in I want to remind everyone that all of this is nothing but a model to better approach an understanding of how the mechanics of reality may behave. It is not meant to fully explain this place in a mathematical manner nor does it purport to explain the intricacies of reality to the most minute degree. Rather is meant as a guideline to help us develop new ideas about life, reality and the cosmos at large emphasizing the marvellous similarities between what you learn as a sonic engineer and how life presents itself to all humans on Earth in their own way.

I also want to stress how important your input will be for this series. If you feel called to comment, to further develop ideas, to share your take on any of the parts or to disagree please feel free to do so in the comment section.

I am starting this series as a work in progress, reserving the option to periodically add parts as I come across them on my own journeys as sound designer and musician, researcher and individual within human society.

For part one starting tomorrow we will look at "the" frequency band of existence exploring how all phenomena might actually be part of the same vibrational process on different frequencies.
