Unplugging from the Internet for a month.

in experiment •  7 years ago  (edited)

Today I decided to unplug from the Internet. I'm not saying Internet is inherently bad for the human brain. Simply, moderation is the key to stay healthy. Unfortunately, being fully part of the Internet generation (being 22), I can't stop reading the negative effects a compulsive use can have on very neuro-plastic teenage brains :

  • Poor memory.
  • Addictive behaviours on the Internet and afterwards in real life (Porn, drugs, gambling, pointless compulsive scrolling, any kind of short-term stimulation that leads nowhere).
  • Very poor concentration (remember when you last read an article entirely ?).
  • Poor sleep quality (which basically deteriorates further every aspect of life).

And so on, and so on...

However, I'm leaving you guys for a journey, starting today, 25 september, for a whole month in which I deny myself from using Internet completely.

  • No TV (I never used but experiencing withdrawal and boredom can lead to dark places).
  • No smartphone, I removed my SIM card few minutes ago, put it into an old shitty Blackberry.
  • No computer, even burrowed from a friend. Neither sitting on a sofa with friends watching garbage on Youtube.
  • No screen exposure in general.

This is an article I wrote in 5 minutes, I can't really take myself seriously enough before having actually done such a challenge very few youngsters like me would even think to attempt. Furthermore, anyone can simply google "Negative impacts Internet" and have its answer, that's why I'll keep it short for now, what's coming will be much more interesting.

There will be a very detailed report of this Journey, the 25th of October.

Cia fellaws, gotta look at some walls for fucking hours.
