Making educated decisions about your own health is not as absurd as people make it out to be.

I have no idea what medications work for covid and I don't care. If the question arises, I will ask a medical professional - such as a doctor or my wife.

I do have opinions on economic or political policy.

It's not because I have degrees in both subjects. I got the degrees because I was interested in them in the first place. Unfortunately, they were not as useful in furthering my understanding as I hoped.

One thing I did learn in the process is that the typical economist or political scientist is rarely more likely to have the correct take on an issue than an educated amateur.

Furthermore, on the one small issue where I investigated medical consensus, I often found it to be wrong.

This does not justify using memes as medical advice, but making your own educated decisions about your health is not as crazy as some would have you believe.
