Intelligent agents: Automatic business entities

in extendedmind •  8 years ago  (edited)

Some may have read my post(s) on topics such as the implications of Automated Capitalism , Tauchain , Cyborgization, Quantified Intention , and Transhumanism . You may also have watched the video on extended mind theory, but a concept is at the center of all of these topics and that concept is the intelligent agent.

The Big Picture

My big picture for all who connect the dots between my philosophy of technological liberation, extended mind theory, intelligent agents, and exocortex/transhumanism, is the idea that through technologies which reduce attention scarcity while improving human decision making (including ethics!) we can improve the state of the individual and the world. The key concept behind my philosophy of technology is IA, not AI. It's intelligence amplification, rather than to merely create an AI which is competition for humans. The goal is to use AI to help humans become better humans, more human in the best ways, less human in the worst ways.

Hi
This reminds me of the old cyberculture magazine Mondo 2000 the most amazing future enlightenment I have ever read in my life when I was in California with the seeds of cyberpunk, virtual reality, and smart drugs
I saw this now https://archive.org/details/mondohistory you can view them all

The Embodied Interface

Your intelligent agents are YOU. You can define how each of your avatars look. They can all look like you, or they can be designed to look however you identify with. This collection of your avatars becomes your digital self, the algorithms of which will know you better than anyone, better than you know yourself.

I remember first encountering this concept in the book 'The Sovereign Individual" by Davies and Rees-Mogg.
"If you kill me, my intelligent agents will sweep your bank accounts and donate them to 3rd-world charities you oppose..."

And 20 years after the writing we're well along in the transition to this new phase of civilization, centered around the Pacific Rim. The Atlanticist Age is fading, with considerable protest from the unprepared mid-level echelons...!

This sounds something like Jeff Hawkins's book On Intelligence, where he talks about domain-specific AIs that he compares to cortical modules. Neuroscientists did not take it seriously at the time. His "cortical algorithm" is now being developed by him commercially.

Interesting.

Agreed. Technology should serve mankind and not the other way round. This should also be the basis of all scientific research.
